Let's watch them!

Lucifer Rising (28 mins) - Ken Anger

Experimental, with a lot of powerful imagery but it might bore some people. He's one of the most influential directors of people like David Lynch that nobody seems to know about. He uses a lot of satanic imagery, and moody music.

Phantoms of Nabua - Apichatpong Weerasethakul

War is good fun if you're on a multiplayer server in a video game, or a sniper.

However, if you're watching a film about war. It's pretty obvious its a bad place to be.

So, here's a list of the 100 greatest: http://www.channel4.com/film/newsfeatures/microsites/W/greatest_warfilms/results/100-96.html

Agree, disagree? I would have to say a lot of shit war films got in there, just to make up the numbers.

My favourites:

Platoon

Apocolypse Now

A Bridge too Far

First Blood

Black Hawk Down

Werckmeister Harmonies

One of the very best films. A Hungarian film from 2000.

Summary: Based on László Krasznahorkai's novel "The Melancholy of Resistance," this is an uncanny fable about powerlessness and tyranny. Set in a small Hungarian village at a moment of great crisis, a mysterious circus comes to town with a giant whale and news of an appearance by a Prince known for his strange powers. Soon the locals' emotions are stirred to a fever pitch of anticipation. (Anthology Film Archives)

One of the greats. I was watching a video of him on the Henry Rollins Show and figured, why not make a thread about him.

Who is Herzog?

He is often associated with the German New Wave movement (also called New German Cinema), along with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Margarethe von Trotta, Volker Schlöndorff, Hans-Jürgen Syberberg, Wim Wenders and others. His films often feature heroes with impossible dreams, people with unique talents in obscure fields, or individuals who find themselves ...
